Ken Cooper

Lead Pastor
Ken came in as our Lead Pastor in 1999. He would love to meet you when you visit West E. Free Church. A graduate of Dallas Seminary with a Masters in Theology and Doctorate in Ministry, God has gifted Ken in preaching and applying scriptural principles to everyday life.

Worship Ministries

Adam Leichner

Pastor of Worship and Young Adult Ministries

Adam is originally from Wichita, and spent his first eight years of ministry serving in churches in Kansas and Oklahoma, before joining the staff at WEFC in 2014. He and his wife Meagan have two children, Elijah, and Iva Grace. Adam serves in a dual role of Pastor of Worship and Young Adult Ministry. Adam has a passion for worship, and he believes that, “true worship is not just in the songs that we sing, or the music we play, but true worship is in the life that we live.” He also believes that God moves in powerful ways when his people come together in corporate worship.

Virginia Olson

Communications & Worship Administrative Assistant

Virginia Olson has been attending West E. Free Church since 1980 with her husband, Phil. In the fall of 2002 Virginia began her service here as our Administrative Assistant for Communication and Worship and Music Ministry. The Olsons’ daughter, Kristen, and her husband are in Atlanta, so Phil and Virginia are happy to have their daughter, Emily, and her husband working locally.

Children’s Ministries

Leslie Holeman

Director of Kids Ministry

Leslie is married to Frank and together they have four children; Tyler, Kora, Micah and Henry.  Leslie loves being outdoors and runs on lots of coffee.  Leslie has been in children’s ministry leadership in Wichita since 2007 and joined WEFC in 2019.  She can’t remember a time that she was not serving in kids ministry.  She loves partnering with parents to grow and develop a child’s faith by developing programming that is fun and Christ centered and geared to what phase of life they are in.

Annette Edwards

Kids Ministry Administrative Assistant

Annette is married to Mike, and they have five children. God brought them to WEFC in 2015. Annette attended her previous church for over 40 years where she was the interim Preschool Director and worked with preschool children for over 20 years. She continues to work with children since coming to WEFC, both as a volunteer and as the Kids Ministry Assistant. She has been involved in several ministries here such as teaching Sunday School, Awana Cubbies, Moppets, VBS, and Fall Festival. Annette loves kids and has been called by God to encourage children to love and trust in Jesus.

Carrie Swanson

Nursery Coordinator

Carrie and her husband, David, began attending West in 2002, about a year before their marriage. They have two sons, Micah and Isaiah. Over the years Carrie has volunteered in many different areas including AWANA, Youth Drama, and Women’s Ministry. She loves kids and is excited to now serve as the Nursery Coordinator.


Student Ministries

Greg Smith

Pastor of Student Ministries

Greg is originally from Wichita and spent over a decade serving in churches in Illinois and Wisconsin before he came home to Wichita and to West E. Free in 2006. He received his Master’s degree in Religious Education from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Greg is passionate about people connecting with each other and loves the friendliness, passion and desire to reach others he sees at WEFC. He believes firmly to his core that “ministry happens in the context of relationships,” and he is committed to helping people grow in their walk with Christ.

Deanna Cox

Student Ministries Administrative Assistant

Deanna is originally from Wichita, but spent almost 30 years traveling around the world as an Air Force spouse before returning home in 2018.  She and her husband, Steve, have four children each living or going to college in different states.  Deanna is excited to have found WEFC and to be a part of students coming to know Christ and grow deeper in their walk with Him.

Elijah Hoyer

Student Ministries Intern

Elijah is a student at Eternity Bible College where he is pursuing a degree in Biblical Studies. He has attended WEFC since 2016. Shortly after he started attending, he was brought on as the Youth Worship Director. As he continues his education and serving in youth ministry, God has been growing his heart for the youth. Elijah desires for every student to be passionate about God and the living Word He has given us. When he is not at work you can find him at local coffee shops, hanging out with friends downtown, or any place he can set up a hammock.

Adult Ministries

Kyle Seal

Pastor of Adult Ministries

Kyle is originally from Arkansas where he spent his first 20 years in ministry serving in collegiate ministry and then as a Discipleship Pastor. He received his Doctorate from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Kyle and his family moved to Wichita in June of 2018. He is married to Ashley and they have one daughter, Abbie. Kyle has a desire to see others transformed by the Word of God and to multiply disciples who make disciples.

Adam serves in a dual role of Pastor of Worship and Young Adult Ministry. Adam is excited about the Christ-focused passion he sees in the young adults (18-29 year olds) here at WEFC. It is his heart to help foster the discipleship process, help get people connected, and to see fully devoted Christ followers making an impact for the Kingdom.

Jen McDermott

Adult Ministries Administrative Assistant

Jen is a native Floridian who made Wichita her home in 2004 after graduating from the University of South Florida with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and marrying her high school sweetheart. Along with her husband and baby, she started attending West in 2006, and they immediately started serving in the nursery. Since then their family has grown to four children, and she and her husband have been active in many different ministries. Now Jen is the Administrative Assistant to the Adult Ministries Pastor and enjoys getting to serve the ministries she cares about in new ways.

Administration & Communication

Chrissy Geisler

Office Administrator and Lead Pastor Administrative Assistant

Chrissy and her husband Larry moved to Wichita in 2010. They eventually found their way to WEFC and began attending with their 3 children, Kian, Nya and Quinlyn. West has become their church home as they have been a part of life groups, served in the Children’s Ministry and now lead Coffee Ministry. Chrissy is excited to become a member of staff. It is her desire to help others feel welcomed, ministered to and loved as much as she and her family have experienced at West.

Patty Owings


Patty is married to her high school sweetheart, Ron. Their family includes Nathan, Charissa, Carter, Wesley and Landon Geib of Jefferson, Oregon (formerly of WEFC) and Bryce and Victoria McClure of WEFC. Victoria graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in December and is now on staff at WEFC.

Craig Porter

Facility Coordinator

Craig was born in Texas and his family settled in Missouri where he met and married his bride of 34 years! they have two awesome girls.  Kiley and Andrew Schmidt live in Kansas City, Kansas.  Kambry is marrying Jeremy Milford in February 2019, and they will reside in Wichita.

God has been gracious to see us through very difficult times and very blessed times.  In all ways we can trust in the Lord Our God for He is ALWAYS faithful!”

Luke Lallement

Graphic Designer

Luke is a student at Wichita State, studying Graphic Design. He likes to be active and enjoys the outdoors. His special talents include longboard dancing, slacklining, and eating food. Luke has a part time lawn care business, along with designing logos and other small art projects. When he is not working, you can find him at Chick-Fil-A or Ecclelsia (coffee shop). He is I looking forward to using his skills in ministry at WEFC.
